gerund-infinitive differences

1- We can use see (watch, hear, feel, etc) + object + -ing to talk about an action that is in progress. For example:

She saw two men crossing the river (they were crossing the river at that moment, that is to say, they were in the water when she saw them)

2- We can use see (watch, hear, feel,  etc) + object + infinitive without to to talk about an action that is complete. For example:

She saw two men cross the river (She watched them cross from one side to the other).
